This year we welcome you to Udine, Italy as host of the K3 short film festival. In Villach, Austria and Ljubljana, Slovenia local competitions take place.
The unique concept of doing K3 in three countries gives us the big opportunity to get to know three different cultures through film and real-life meetings. At the same time especially this year it is a big challenge to make it possible. We apologize for the delay in calls which happened due to budgetary problems of the Italian section!
Anyway we are ready to go now and we are looking forward to your entries and to an exciting K3 festival year.

The jury at K3 Ljubljana, composed of Varja Močnik – film maker, Ivana Novak – film critic and Simon Popek – director of Ljubljana International Film Festival, has selected the following three films from the local competition programme to continue their journey from Slovenia to the K3x3 programme in Villach:
LOOKING THROUGH THE IRON CURTAIN, Anja Medved
“Looking Through the Iron Curtain” by Anja Medved encapsulates the spirit of a historic moment in a matter of mere minutes – although shown at a critical moment within several socio-political contexts, its influence had ruled these realities for long decades. The film’s depiction of the past and the present reveals how political borders, in their single-minded aim to limit, invariably oppose only with the human desire for freedom of movement and thought.
WHITE BOX, Eva Petrič
“White Box” by Eva Petrič is a poetic contemplation on space;
on the three physical spaces of three different places;
on the space organically created through film-making;
on the author’s intimate conception of a newly-created space, that at the same time represents her own world.
SOLIDARITY, Nika Autor
“Solidarity” by Nika Autor, a remake of the 1973 “Solidarity” by Joyce Wieland, proposes a straightforward perspective on contemporary Slovenia (and probably on several other corners of the world). It shows a time of human exploitation, a reality where solidarity is changing from a virtue into a necessity. |

Am letzen Tag des K3 Festivals in Udine wurden die drei Gewinner des ersten lokalen Wettbewerbs bekannt gegeben!
Die aus Friaul-Julisch Venetien stammenden Kurzfilme werden, gemeinsam mit der Auswahl aus Slowenien und Kärnten, im Herbst beim überregionalen 3x3 Wettbewerb antreten.
Von der Jury in Friaul Julisch-Venetien – Gian Paolo Polesini, Journalist und Filmkritiker des Messaggero Veneto, Elisa Grando, Journalistin und Filmkritikerin bei Il Piccolo und Ciak, Jurij Meden, Programmleiter der Kinoteka in Ljubljana und Fritz Hock, Festivalleiter des internationalen K3 Kurzfilmfestivals – wurden ex aequo ausgewählt: Cinezoïque von Stefania Rota, La penna di Hemingway von Renzo Carbonera und L’imprevedibile destino dei Caugich von Krema, Peresutti und Sabbadini. Cinezoïque, experimentelles footage video, konnte mit einer originellen Reise durch die Filmgeschichte mit Wiedererkennungswert punkten; La penna di Hemingway überzeugte die Jury mit einer professionell abgerundeten Ausführung des Filmprojekts und einer gelungenen Abbildung der Region in Form einer erzählten Legende; L’imprevedibile destino dei Caugich, groteskes Drama, stach hervor durch die ironische und groteske Darstellung einer Familie, die ihren Werten und ihrer Tradition bis zum Tod treu bleibt.
Die Jury begründete ihre Auswahl mit drei Hauptkriterien – Innovation, Technik und der vermittelten Botschaft – und kam schließlich zu einem Ergebnis, das die Vielfältigkeit der Filmproduktionen in Friaul Julisch-Venetien sehr gut widerspiegelt.
Wir bedanken und herzlich bei allen Teilnehmern, Mitarbeitern, Unterstützern, Freunden und dem Publikum, die ein erfolgreiches K3 Eröffnungsfestival in Udine ermöglicht haben!
Es folgen das K3 Festival in Ljubljana am 24. und 25. September und schließlich das große internationale Kurzfilmfestival von 22. bis 25. November in Villach. |

in Anwesenheit des Autors
Einer der maßgeblichsten Kunstfilmemacher der zweiten Hälfte des 20.Jahrhunderts und jemand, der sein Leben konsequent nach den Prinzipien seiner Kunst ausrichtet. Sein 40-jähriges künstlerisches Schaffen reicht von Fotografie, Installationen, Skulpturen und Objektkunst über Performances, Video-Art, Expanded Cinema, Ton und TV-Intervention, bis hin zum geschriebenen Wort.
